join us 9-15 for our first meeting of the year!

GLO Fall updates:

  • Contract Campaign Kick Off GMM !! + Welcome Back Party September 15th at 6pm (RSVP here!)

  • Constitution Referendum vote September 21st-October 5th

  • Steward Nomination period opens October 6th

As we enter the new academic year, we wanted to welcome you back (or welcome you for the first time!) and write with some updates about our union’s upcoming activities.

This is a big year for grads at Brown: we’re renegotiating our Collective Bargaining Agreement with Brown in the Spring, which will give us an opportunity to fight for better working conditions and make improvements to our current contract around things like job security, ensuring that our wages are livable, childcare, healthcare, international student support, and more. We’re kicking off our Contract Campaign with a General Members’ Meeting on September 15th- and we’re hosting a Welcome Back party right after the GMM with music, drinks, and other festivities!

At the GMM we will talk about our postponed constitution referendum vote to take place September 21-October 5th, as well as devise a plan to win a strong contract that leaves no one behind. As with all union activities, every win starts with getting organized!

Right now is the perfect time to get involved in organizing your department as a GLO steward. Stewards are the heart of our union: they organize their departments by having regular conversations with their peers, communicating with GLO leadership, and mobilizing their colleagues around our campaigns. We’re recruiting new Stewards in many departments right now in advance of the steward nomination period, which opens October 5th. Contact your Lead Organizer if you’re interested in learning more!
