GLO ELECTIONS: nominations due may 7th!

As we noted in our email sent to GLO members on 4/15, elections for GLO's next leadership are coming up at the end of May! We wanted to remind everyone about the nomination and voting process, and to update your address with GLO if you haven't already. As always, if you have any questions about this process, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at elections@glounion.org!

Nominations due May 7th - not the 4th

We recently sent a letter to every GLO member with information about the upcoming elections. This letter incorrectly listed May 4th as the deadline for nominations - in fact, nominations are due by the 7th.

If you’re a GLO member and have not received this letter, please email staff@glounion.org to make sure your address with GLO is up to date. (You can still nominate yourself or a coworker, and vote, regardless of whether you received the notification letter.)

GLO members who've worked in our bargaining unit any time in the past four semesters, and are in good standing, are eligible to run for leadership in our union. To be nominated for a position, a candidate must send the elections committee a petition with the signatures of 25 fellow GLO members, with the exception of candidates for Lead Organizer of Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities or Life Sciences; for these four positions, nominees only need the signatures of 10 GLO members in the relevant division.

Nomination petitions can be sent to elections@glounion.org - simply include the name of the nominee, and the names of those supporting their nomination. You can read more about the elections process in our union's constitution.

Mail ballots

If there's more than one candidate for any of the open seats, we will be sending everyone a ballot by mail. Ballots are due back by May 31st. To ensure that you receive your ballot, please make sure that your address with GLO is up to date. You should have recently received an elections notification letter from us; if you haven't received this letter, please email staff@glounion.org to make sure we have the right address for your ballot!

In addition to mail ballots, we will be holding in-person voting on Tuesday the 31st, with location and hours to be announced. For members who do not receive a mail ballot and are unable to access in-person voting, we will have provisional online ballots.

Finally, in the event that no seats have more than one candidate, candidates will be elected by acclimation, and we won't need to send out ballots or hold in-person voting.

As always, email us at elections@glounion.org if you have any questions. We're excited for GLO members to decide together on our next elected leadership!
